Lyft is a privately held American transportation network company (TNC) based in San Francisco. The company’s mobile-phone application facilitates peer-to-peer ridesharing by connecting passengers who need a ride with drivers who have a car. Lyft operates in about 65 U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City, with plans to expand domestically and internationally.

Requirements to Become a Lyft Driver

•You must be at least 21 years old
•You must own a four-door car that is year 2003 or newer (2005 in some cities)
•You must have in-state car insurance with your name on the policy
•An in-state driver’s license
•In-state plates with current registration (commercial plates are also accepted)
•Pass a background check and driving record check

Lyft Plus Brings Six-Passenger Rides Nationwide, drivers with a six-seat vehicle from SUVS to Minivans. For passengers Lyft Plus is the same friendly, reliable, and affordable ride, but with more seat to go around. The new six-passenger ride will cost just 1.5x the price of original Lyft.
